Dr. Bill Mathis will participate in two workshops at the California Utility Executives Management Association (CUEMA) Leadership Summit. The Summit will bring together water and utility managers for two days of seminars, networking, exchange of ideas, and skill building from September 4 through September 6, 2013 at the Hilton San Diego Resort.

Dr. Mathis will lead a discussion opportunities and challenges facing water districts brought about by fiscally endangered cities. The panel includes creative general managers Stacey Aldstadt (San Bernardino Municipal Water Department) and Doug Headrick (San Bernardino Valley Municipal Water District). CUEMA board member and acknowledged financial expert Michael Busch (Urban Futures Inc.) will present details of unforeseen opportunities for shared services, outsourcing and management of services that water districts can incorporate into larger financial strategies. Dr. Mathis will also serve as a member on the panel titled “Undermined by Your Own Colleagues: How to Learn From the Past and Recover for the Future.”
